Electra Metropolis Athens, Greece
Project Description
The former Ministry of Education has been totally refurbished and transformed into a luxury hotel in just thirteen months. The structural frame of the building was reinforced and the building was upgraded energy wise and was the first hotel in Greece to receive a ‘LEED’ certificate by the “US Green Building Council”.. The first phase of the project involved in-site investigations of the geometry, material properties and reinforcing patterns of the structural elements to determine the design assumptions. In the second phase, the analysis and design of the structure was carried out, which involved a static nonlinear analysis (Push-over) in accordance to Eurocode 8 and the Greek national regulation for rehabilitation of structures.
